Institute of Technology Tralee
Established in 1977, the Institute of Technology, Tralee, a university level institution, offers courses in Business, Multimedia, Humanities & Social Studies, Hotel, Catering & Tourism, Engineering & Construction, Science & Computing and Nursing & Healthcare, with progression paths from Higher Certificate and Ordinary Degree to Honours Degree to Masters and Ph.D.

It has over 3,500 full-time and part-time students and 250 staff. The Institute attracts students from all over Ireland and Europe and prides itself on its friendly and caring approach to its students.

The Institute has invested over €50 million to date in the North Campus Development providing state-of-the art teaching facilities, which complement the already existing excellent facilities in the South Campus. Their multi-million euro development Masterplan has already seen significant developments in learning, teaching, research and student sports facilities, providing quality facilities for all students.

University of Limerick (UL)
This internationally renowned University is located within a one hour drive from Kerry.  The University shares a 263 hectare (650 acre) campus with the National Technology Park and has close interaction with many companies on the park.  Main disciplines are: Information and Electronics, Science, Engineering, Business and Software.  The University has over 11,300 students and 1300 staff.

University College Cork (UCC)
UCC situated in Cork City, just two hours drive from Kerry, was established in 1845.  This University is one of Ireland’s leading research institutes.  The university has over 120 degree and professional programmes given through some 60 departments. Today the university has almost 16,000 students of which 13,000 are bachelor degree candidates and 3,000 are postgraduate students.

Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT)
Limerick Institute of Technology prides itself in its technical strengths such as Information Technology, applied Science, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Design, Fashion, Build Environment and Professional Studies.  LIT has almost 4,000 full time students.

Cork Institute of Technology (CIT)
Cork Institute of Technology is one of Ireland’s major higher education institutes.  It is located just 120kms from Kerry. Research and development and services to industry form a significant part of the CIT’s work.  Courses span Science, Business and Humanities, Engineering, Art and Music.  CIT has over 6,000 full-time students and has one of the largest part-time study programmes in Ireland.

Shannon College of Hotel Management
This college located at Shannon Airport draws students from across the world.  A college of the National University of Ireland, Shannon College offers two degree routes to an international business and hotel management career.  These are the Bachelor of Business Studies Degree in International Hotel Management (BBS) and the Bachelor of Commerce Degree with NUI Diploma in International Hotel Management.  The college is host to 257 full-time students.

Substantial Industrial Base

Kerry has established a substantial industrial base with national and international companies. The range of products range from financial services to textiles. These include FEXCO (Killorglin), Kerry Group, Astellas,Temmler, Liebherr (Killarney). There has been a surge in the number of the indigenous businesses resulting in a growing base of small and medium manufacturing and service businesses.
